Job overview

You will be required to provide secretarial support to Perinatal Multi-disciplinary Team with responsibility for transcription of letters from our electronic digital dictation system.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Perinatal Team based at the Womens Hospital in Crown Street,  for a highly motivated and enthusiastic  Support Medical Secretary.This role will be supporting consultants/clinicians and their medical team.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive professional support secretarial  service to an excellent standard ensuring a high level of accuracy to the Local Services Division.


Successful applicants will be able to organise their own workload and co-ordinate workload activities with other Medical Secretaries in the team. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly telephone manner. There is a need to be able to work to tight deadlines and withstand the pressure of a busy department and it is essential that you are able to work on your own.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Applicants will be proficient in the use of audio-typing and word-processing packages and qualified to at least RSA Level 3 typing/word-processing or equivalent. Knowledge of medical terminology is essential and possession of the AMSPAR certificate desirable.
