Job overview
The postholder will support the in-patient service line managers in the day to day administration of the safe care and rostering systems. They will work closely with managers to ensure that wards are safely staffed and that the electronic systems accurately reflect the needs of the wards and that appropriately skilled staff are available. The postholder will utilise a variety of Microsoft systems eg excel, word to provide data and information to managers to support the achievement of key performance indicators
Main duties of the job
To provide general clerical support as required enabling the in-patient service line to function effectively, using safe care, the electric-roster and other related systems.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will also utilize the Microsoft Office software suite e.g. Outlook, Excel and Word. To assist in the provision of a service in order to assist managers in ensuring safe and appropriate staffing levels are maintained across the site. To maintain an overview of the staffing of wards, by collating the information provided by wards to compile a master duty sheet utilising the electronic-roster system and excel. To assist in the collection of data in order to provide monthly performance reports for senior managers, including use of additional hours, training updates, annual leave, special leave. Work closely with the Ward Managers, Matrons and Clinical Service Managers to ensure an accurate service view off the daily staffing is readily available. Identify any potential staffing deficits that may have a potential negative impact upon service delivery and alert senior managers.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with computer based rostering / information systems.
- Evidence of cross organisational working
- Understanding of the staffing needs of a clinical workforce
- Financial awareness
- Knowledge of workforce issues in the NHS and shift systems
- Awareness of key operational issues such as EWTD, temporary staffing, etc.
- Understanding of demands on Ward/Department heads in terms of service pressure
