Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivate Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will work as part of the Acute Care Team with responsibility for delivery of care in the acutely unwell and deteriorating patients and providing teaching to staff on the recognition and care of the deteriorating patient at our Liverpool hospital.
You should already be working at an advanced level in a similar post or have the necessary clinical experience of working in an acute care setting.
You must have advanced clinical practice qualification and advanced life support training or be willing to work towards these qualification within the first 12 months of appointment. Having an MSc in Advanced Practice and non medical prescribing is desirable.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the ACT you will be expected to be a kay member of the cardiac arrest team and medical emergency team for all cardiac arrests/medical emergencies across the Trust.
As a member of the Acute Care Team (ACT) you will be responsible in implementing compliance with relevant clinical care protocols. Advising the Trust on required equipment and resources for the management of the acutely unwell and deteriorating patient.
You will be expected to provide expert clinical advice and intervention regarding the management of the acutely unwell patient. including complex airway management working with the LUFT critical care outreach services.
Undertake audits and prepare reports as requested.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RGN level 1
- Post-registration qualification relevant to critical care/acute care
- Extensive clinical experience in an acute care setting
- Advanced clinical practice qualification e.g. Clinical Examination &/or Diagnostics or willingness to undertake within the first 12 months
- Teaching and assessing / Mentorship qualification e.g. EMB 998
- ALS Provider or willingness to undertake within the first 12 months
Desirable criteria
- Working towards Masters in Advanced Practice
- Non-medical prescribing qualification with portfolio supporting attainment of competency
- Interpretation of diagnostic investigations
- Experience of delivering education within a healthcare setting e.g. ALS, ILS, AIM, ALERT
- Advanced Communication qualification
Knowledge & Expertise

- Knowledge of national standards, policies and frameworks and working knowledge of clinical governance.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Broad range of clinical experience in critical care / critical care outreach / acute care
- Evidence of working at senior level in critical care / critical care outreach / acute care
- Recent and relevant experience in critical care / critical care outreach / acute care
- Experience of assessing and managing a variety of medical problems including the deteriorating / acutely unwell patients
- Experience in teaching all levels of healthcare staff Leadership and mentoring skills to energise the team and motivate individuals
- Minimum post registration with extensive experience in critical care.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of writing policies and procedures
- Involvement in audit and research
