We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our haemato-oncology service as part of Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

You will be required to have the necessary skills to independently undertake history taking, physical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, evaluation of care and nurse prescribing while adhering to the NMC Code of Conduct.

The successful applicant will be predominantly based at our Liverpool site but with some cross site working at CCC-A. 
We are seeking highly motivated nurses with knowledge in haemato-oncology and experience at Band 7 or above, with advanced practice skills, confident decision-making skills, excellent communicator, innovative and with a passion to always improve.

The ACP role at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre aligns with the Advanced practice Framework to ensure our underpinning standards are consistent with advanced level practice, including Physical assessment and Prescribing.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include some inpatient shift working on a rota basis alongside medical colleagues.

The role is underpinned by the 4 pillars of advanced practice, with duties spanning each of these to include but not limited to independent clinical assessment of complex patients with a range of haemato-oncology diagnoses; developing and actioning management plans; independent non-medical prescribing; teaching and education of colleagues across the region; service development, active involvement in audit and participation in clinical supervision; working within the MDT; nurse-led cover of day unit and ambulatory care; inpatient cover alongside medical colleagues; advanced clinical procedures such as bone marrow biopsy.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate healthcare professional registration
  • MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice/ACP
  • Recognised Leadership Qualification
  • Non - medical prescribing qualification with portfolio supporting attainment of competency
  • Post - basic qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant subject
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Advanced Communications Skills Training
  • Previous chemotherapy experience
  • Experience of working in an oncology setting
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Advanced Life Support qualification.( only ANP’s who participate in MET cover)
  • IO needle insertion ( Only ANP’s who participate in MET cover)
Desirable criteria
  • Research qualification
  • Psychological skills training – Level 2 training

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential criteria
  • Highly motivated and experienced practitioner with substantive range of experience within cancer care
  • Broad & advanced knowledge of clinical pathophysiology
  • Sound level of knowledge in relation to invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Knowledge of national standards, policies and working knowledge of clinical governance
  • Understanding of evidence based practice and ability to critically appraise and implement research findings into practice
  • In - depth specialist experience within specialist field
  • Has the knowledge to support safe clinical decision making in relation to admission and discharge
Desirable criteria
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical practice and oncology t reatments including treatment induced side - effects

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of writing policies and procedures.
  • Proven leadership experience including delivering to targets, change initiatives and service improvement
  • Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary Team
  • Leadership and mentoring skills to energise the team and motivate individuals
  • Extensive post registration experience with recent experience at a senior level.

  • Experience of participation in re search and audit
  • Ability to influence and develop clinical services
  • Demonstrates current knowledge of professional and NHS issues and the implication for clinical environment
  • Enthusiasm and drive to improve practice through education and training
