Staff Nurse, Outpatients Department CCC Aintree (with cross cover at Liverpool, Paddington and Wirral).

37.5 Hours per week, Monday - Friday inclusive of bank holidays

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to work as a Staff Nurse based within the Outpatients Department at our Aintree site. The post holder will be required to cross cover at the Liverpool, Paddington and Wirral sites.

The post will provide support to the Outpatients Team and the wider multi-professional teams that run their clinics through the unit.

Excellent communication skills are essential 

Through the Trust induction, eLearning and supportive buddy system within the unit we will support you in your new role to develop your knowledge, skills and competencies. We will also support continued professional development with access to further learning such as communication courses and clinical skills with support of our learning and development team and clinical education.

Main duties of the job

Provide support to Consultants and the wider medical teams, allied healthcare professionals and other members of the multi-professional team to deliver nursing care within the outpatient environment.

The Staff Nurse role will include:-

  • assisting and coordinating the day to day running of services
  • triage of patients
  • wound care (when required)
  • recognition and escalation acutely unwell patients
  • supporting unwell patients waiting for external transfers
  • providing hands-on care
  • assisting and emotional support to patients and their relatives
  • phlebotomy
  • supporting with the management of PICCs and Ports
  • supporting in clinics
  • observations
  • urinalysis
  • BM recording
  • ECG recording
  • preparation of clinics
  • high standards of documentation and record keeping.

In the absence of the manager and deputy manager it would be the responsibility of the post holder to coordinate the team and support with staff and patient queries. 

Individuals should be committed, motivated and compassionate to complement the existing team.

Monday - Friday, including Bank Holidays. Flexibility required.
