Exciting new opportunity to join our Therapy teams at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre
Band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioner
The AHP teams in CCC work together to support patients who are undergoing oncology treatments for Cancer. As part of a new initiative, we are developing roles for our assistant workforce and this is an exciting opportunity to support teams and develop future services

Main duties of the job
The post holder will play a key role in supporting the Dietetics team in delivering high quality, patient centred care to oncology inpatients and outpatients. Working under the guidance and supervision of registered Dietetics staff, the post holder will contribute both clinically and non-clinically within the prehabilitation and rehabilitation therapy pathway. The Assistant Practitioner will be directly involved in the delivery of therapy interventions at different stages of the patient’s treatment pathway. The Assistant Practitioner will be required to review and treat patients without direct supervision, in addition to carrying out delegated tasks provided by Dietitians leading the oncology therapy pathway. The Assistant Practitioner will support Speech and Language Therapy with designated tasks aligned to scope of practice

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good level of general education including GCSE or equivalents including functional skills level 2
- Level 3 in relevant subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
- Care certificate
- Level 5 (Foundation Degree) in relevant subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
- Applied knowledge of assistant practitioner role
- Good understanding of the roles of allied health professionals
- Able to demonstrate awareness of NHS purpose and who it serves
- Awareness of own scope of practice and when to seek support
- Solid foundation knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology: Understanding body systems and how impairments affect function
- Ability to conduct non-complex therapy initial assessments
- Knowledge of gait re-education, mobility aids, and equipment provision
- To have the knowledge of goal setting and appropriate basic treatment plans
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of oncology diagnosis and treatment pathways
- Knowledge of data collection and audit
- Evidence of CPD e.g. short courses, study days, formal training or experience relevant to role
- Familiarity with outcome measures
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience working with patients in healthcare/ relevant area
- Demonstrate ability to work within a team / group
- Experience of working independently under the guidance of registered staff
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in different NHS settings- i.e. inpatients, outpatients and community
- Experience in delivering group classes
- Understanding of MDT working
