Job overview

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (CCC) provides excellent cancer care to patients in the North West (including North Wales and the Isle of Man). We have 3 site locations; the central Liverpool site and hub sites in the Wirral and Aintree. Inpatient services, including 2 wards, bone marrow transplant service and the regional Teenage and Young Adult unit (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust) are located at our Liverpool site.

It is an exciting time for the Pharmacy Production unit at CCC-Liverpool, which has recently obtained an MHRA specials licence. The department is developing batch production through the use of VHP gassing Isolator technology. This has provided an exciting opportunity to fully train Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians. It is important for the pharmacy department to develop pharmacy technicians within our large, diverse and friendly pharmacy team.

You will undertake training for this role, which will involve rotating through different pharmacy area's to gain knowledge, skills and competencies to gain a BTEC diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians Level 3. This role involves attending Bradford College live session in a virtual college classroom once a week and gain practical experience in pharmacy services under supervision of qualified assessors.

Working pattern will be 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

 Responsible for the day to day dispensing of aseptic preparations under
the supervision of qualified technicians.
 Attendance at college once a week for BTEC in pharmacy services and
the completion of an NVQ Level 3 portfolio in pharmacy services under
direct supervision of a qualified NVQ assessor in-house.
 To participate in the dispensing of oral preparations including clinical
trials under the supervision of a qualified technician.
 To follow all standard operating procedures and health and safety
policies of the pharmacy department and the trust.
 Refer matters requiring expert advice to the appropriate pharmacists.
 Attend such training courses from time to time as are deemed necessary
for a comprehensive robust insight into cytotoxic reconstitution/medicines
management/clinical trials.
