Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Walton Centre Safeguarding Team as the Safeguarding Administrator. We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and conscientious individual with excellent administrative and organisational skills. The post holder will be a key point of contact and will liaise with colleagues at all levels and as such, excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. The post holder will work with the minimum of supervision providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support in an organised, efficient and effective manner.

Main duties of the job
Role summary:
The post holder will provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the Safeguarding Matron. To work with the minimum of supervision in an organised, efficient and effective manner. It is essential that the post holder uses initiative compatible to the role and it is vital that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
This post demands a high level of responsibility within the remit of patient care. Accurate record keeping and confidentiality are paramount in this position.
Key responsibilities:
To ensure a comprehensive administration and secretarial service for the Safeguarding Team, maintaining quality standards and confidentiality at all times.
Book calendar appointments as required within the outlook system.
Organisation of urgent appointments and meetings as requested by Safeguarding Matron/ Safeguarding Specialist Nurse.
Maintain the DoLs database and DoLS administration arrangements.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Computer literate
- Good standard of numeracy and literacy
- 5 GCSE passes including English Language/Literature or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- ECDL
- Audio typing skills
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous secretarial/office experience including working with computers.
- Able to use personal initiative when prioritising workloads.
- Good IT skills with Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to maintain accurate patient information.
- Ability to adhere to the Data Protection Act and national/ local guidelines concerning patient confidentiality.
- Knowledge and experience of medical terminology.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in NHS or customer service organization.
- Knowledge of hospital PAS system, EP2, Datix systems, or other NHS systems.
- Experience of safeguarding administration work.
Skills & Attributes
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, associated professional staff and management.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Keyboard skills – accurate, fast typist – Knowledge of Microsoft office
- Willingness to undertake further training as required.
