This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical / Practitioner Psychologist to work within the field of pain management. Ideally, the applicant would have experience working in Pain Management Services but we are happy to consider other relevant experience and transferable skills. The post holder will contribute to the fascinating field of pain management to improve quality of life for those living with pain where psychology has a vital role.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be providing specialist psychological assessment, individual therapy, group therapy within the Pain Management Programmes at The Walton Centre and contributing to service development alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. You will be working with a diverse client group, supporting self management and psychological coping when living with a long term condition.
As a tertiary care hospital there are lots of opportunities for continuing professional development with close working relationships with medical consultants, therapies teams and specialist clinical services. Research, audit and service evaluation are highly valued within the service. Clinical supervision is actively supported and the large team of Clinical psychologists within the wider MDT provides an excellent peer network.
The Walton Centre has strong links with the Clinical Psychology Doctorate courses in Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster.

Essential criteria
- Experience in specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment approaches/interventions
- Experience working with chronic health conditions
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary context
- Experience of teaching, training and/or clinical supervision
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Well developed theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of clinical and health psychology, consistent with doctorate level training
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodologies
Desirable criteria
- Experience working on pain management programmes
- Experience working with a variety of patient groups, with patients across the lifespan and with a wide range of presenting problems that reflect the spectrum of clinical complexity and severity.
