Team Lead Occupational Therapist (Acute)

Job overview
We are looking for a Team Lead Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Occupational Therapy Service at the Walton Centre. We are a team of occupational therapists, assistants and a degree apprentice providing care across the acute inpatient wards covering neurology and neurosurgery.
As Team Lead for the service, you will be responsible for providing day to day support and management of the team including clinical support and supervision and team management. You will manage a clinical caseload alongside the team and work closely with clinical colleagues across the Trust.
If you have proven experience within a relevant neurology speciality such as stroke, early supported discharge, community neurology or other relevant experience we are interested to hear from you. Experience in a regional neurosciences unit is not essential.
As Team Lead for the service you will also be responsible for recruitment, student training, service objectives and liaising with teams both internally and externally to promote and advocate for the acute occupational therapy service.
You will be part of the wider Therapy Service at the Walton Centre and be supported by the Head of Therapies, team leads and your Occupational Therapy peers to integrate into your new role. You will be supported to access additional education and training as required.

Main duties of the job
- Operational leadership including day to day staff management, sickness management, clinical supervision, roster and workforce planning support.
- Manage a clinical caseload and support with the caseload management of all patients requiring occupational therapy assessment, treatment and support within the service.
- Liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure Occupational Therapy is promoted within direct patient care and wider clinical services.
- Ensure all patient care is delivered in line with best practice and relevant clinical guidelines, supporting all Occupational Therapy staff members to deliver excellence in neuroscience

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Health & Care Professions Council Registration
- Evidence of attendance at relevant post-graduate courses and ongoing maintenance of up to date professional development.
Desirable criteria
- Masters level qualification or equivalent in relevant specialism
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of extensive post-registration clinical experience at a senior level
- Evidence of attendance at relevant post graduate courses and ongoing maintenance of up to date professional development
- Extensive experience of assessment and treatment of Acute Neurological and Neurosurgical conditions
- Experience in staff and performance and management
- Able to plan and carry out a complex and demanding workload
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of delivering on key quality performance indicators
