Part time, Public Health Nurse,  Band 5, Central team . Based at Salinae Day Centre in Middlewich but working across the whole of the Central area

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse  to join our Cheshire East Central 0-19+ team as a  part time Public Health Nurse, supporting the School Nurse team over Middlewich, Sandbach, Alsager and Congleton.

Supporting the delivery of a public health offer to  families, children and young people and delivering the Healthy Child Programme core offer.  The role supports the School Nurse with young people who are subject to Child in Need/ Child protection and Cared for Children.  The role gives a great insight to our service and has supported employees to develop into other roles associated with public health and 0-19 services. We have great feedback from students and staff who enjoy working within a friendly and supportive team.

Main duties of the job

 Supporting the 0-19 service to deliver the 0-19 Public Health Nurse offer. 

Managing a safeguarding caseload, including completing health assessments, contributing to multiagency meetings and completing reports.

 Delegation and work planning/organisation

Facilitating clinics across the North Locality Cheshire East

The Cheshire East  0-19+ service is a friendly supportive team  offering staff the opportunity to work flexibly if needed. 

We work with the trust values of compassion openness and Trust ensuring that we demonstrate these values to children and families in Cheshire East North Team and to each other.

We have weekly safety huddles to support staff at the beginning of each day and monthly team meetings. Each member of staff has Clinical and Management supervision every 12 weeks or more often if required.

Supervision is available to all staff both planned and reactive.

We work closely with our specialist Safeguarding nurses to ensure staff feel supported and have access to appropriate training and induction

The successful candidate will work as part of the 0-19 service, delivering public health offer across Central Team working initially with the 5-19 age group.

The role also includes providing leadership to junior colleagues and new starters, organising/ work planning and delegation and chairing and attending meetings.

Qualifications and Professional Training

Essential criteria
  • RN (Adult or Child/RSCN) or RM
  • Evidence of recent professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship level 6
  • Modules at level 6 – Public Health Related
  • Solihull Approach trained
  • Motivational Interviewing trained
  • Immunisation training

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of public Health Priorities
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues and working with vulnerable families
  • Understanding of role within the public Health Team
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a community environment
  • Two years post registration with 12 months community experience
  • Experience of data collection for reports
