Job overview

This post is for a Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This is a full-time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the friendly & supportive O&G team at Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This post is particularly suitable for doctors who have experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and will provide clinical experience on the second on call tier.

The post is a 10 PAs position (with additional on-call commitments) on the Specialty Doctor nationally agreed scale. There will be opportunities to embark on new ATSMs as appropriate, and it would be expected that any successful candidate would take an active role in the service provision of the department.  In addition they would be expected to have active participation in education and audit, which is a great opportunity to enhance your skillset.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be supported by, and work in conjunction with, the Consultants in O&G, working alongside the other second on call doctors, junior medical team and nursing & midwifery colleagues. There is on-call commitment on the second on call rota, so a minimum of 3 years O&G experience is required and a minimum of 12 months clinical experience including independent On Call activity in the UK.

This post is also suitable for senior trainees working towards their CESR. The department will support suitable and interested candidates with completion of ATSM based on the mutual needs.
