Job overview
We currently have two vacancies within the Estates Department:
1 x Electrically biased Maintenance Technician based at Ormskirk Hospital
1 x Electrically biased Technician based at Southport Hospital.
The Estates department at both Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals has a group of highly skilled electrical / mechanical technicians, plumbing engineers, creative building craft persons, and dedicated support staff.
The successful candidate will provide technical support services for the reactive/planned specialist maintenance work on a variety of hospital plant and equipment to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, codes of practice, guidance notes and trust procedures, to a high standard.

Main duties of the job
- Applicants should have served a recognised and registered craft apprenticeship and will have gained an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering and possess equivalent previous hospital maintenance experience.
- The post holder would be expected to carry out maintenance duties in an efficient and effective manner to support the successful delivery of a customer focused estate maintenance service for the Trust.
- Perform routine duties which may be delegated by the maintenance team leader with the minimum of supervision and have a flexible and positive approach to change.
- The applicant must understand and competently work on a wide range of Building Services systems with the ability to service, test, diagnose, and repair mechanical / electrical, plant and equipment.
- Applicants must have the ability to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on relevant knowledge to the team.
- The successful candidates will be part of the department’s on-call rota and point of contact for out of hours incidents and breakdowns, carrying out first line assessment, fault finding, repair, substitute of service and/or safe isolation as required.

Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
