Job overview
Do you want to be part of our very friendly, hard-working and forward-thinking Administrative Team as a Radiology Administrator? If yes - a vacancy has arisen in this area of the Radiology Department.
The department provides a 7 day imaging service, and therefore the post will include evening, weekend and bank holiday duties.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of this very busy department, by typing radiology reports, making complex radiology appointments and administrative duties for a wide range of radiology examinations and procedures.
Applicants should be hard working, enthusiastic and well-motivated with good organisational and communication skills.
Successful applicants will require a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.
The JD & PS are currently under AfC review and are subject to review.
Main duties of the job
To provide a comprehensive administrative service in dealing effectively and efficiently with processing of daily workloads, and ad hoc office duties. Ensure cross cover working where appropriate
The team delivers Radiology services to the health community, providing inpatient, outpatient and GP services to a broad spectrum of client/patient groups.

Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
KEY DUTIES
· Type Radiology reports on the Radiology Information System (RIS) from digital dictation.
· Ensure all reports are distributed promptly to the referring clinician and specialist team where appropriate.
· Ensure all coded reports are tracked through the Failsafe procedure.
· Ensure appropriate follow up investigations are in place and liaise with Modality Secretary accordingly.
· Mentor and train relevant staff as required by the Administration Services Co-ordinator.
· Deal appropriately with concerns from staff in line with Trust policy
· Accurate use of patient information using the Patient Administration System (PAS), including registration screen to check patient details are correct.
· Ensure efficient audit processes in place concerning correspondence to ensure quality levels maintained and rectify accordingly.
· Obtain information requested by Administration Services Co-ordinator
· Be able to work as part of a team, promote effective flows in the department to cover leave to ensure office runs smoothly.
· General office duties including dealing with incoming and outgoing mail, e-mail, fax, photocopying. Participate in housekeeping of the office environment.
· Attend appropriate training, meetings and education sessions at the request of manager
· Work with managers to review working practices, ways of working and find solutions to problems.
· Work in a flexible manner in accordance with the Trust Policy.
