A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in General Outpatients  at Southport and Ormskirk

The successful applicant will work in our diverse department, taking responsibility for the delivery of safe, excellent care to our patients.  Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, as they will be expected to act as a clinical role model to other staff and to work effectively with the large MDT within the department.

The successful candidate will work well under pressure and be able to demonstrate excellent clinical and leadership skills.

In return we will continually invest in them, giving opportunities to work with a wide range of specialities and to learn and maintain valuable nursing skills. Development is encouraged and this is a friendly and welcoming team, who will help to make the transition to this new post a smooth one.

Our Department covers both Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals and at times, the post holder may be expected to work across both sites to meet the demands of the service.

Main duties of the job

Assisting the Clinicians and Specialist Nurses in the running of clinics for a wide variety of specialities, including General Surgery, Vascular, Urology, Rheumatology, General Medicine, Respiratory and more. 

Assisting in the safe delivery of care in the Minor Operations Theatre within the department. Full training will be given for this aspect of the role.

Leading in the nurse-led dressings clinic.

Taking an active role in the mentorship of our Student Nurses and development of junior staff.

To actively promote quality improvement within the department.

Participation in audit.

To co-ordinate in the department in the absence of the Department Manager and Sister.

Safe handling of patient information in line with local and national policies.
