The Specialist Rehabilitation Unit at St Helens Hospital is part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network which provides tailored programmes of rehabilitation to patients who have experienced traumatic illness or injury. Our philosophy is to keep the patient at the heart of everything we do by setting shared goals to keep focus on their progress.

 

We are looking to recruit a driven and enthusiastic, suitably skilled part time administrator to be part of the Specialist Rehabilitation Therapy Team based within St Helens Hospital. The successful applicant will be part of a motivated, forward thinking multidisciplinary team, working directly with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dietitians and Rehabilitation Assistants. The role will also include working collaboratively with other professionals, agencies and local organisations.

 

The JD & PS are currently under AfC review and are subject to change.

Main duties of the job

The responsibilities of the post include:

 

·         Coordination of outpatient therapy service

·         Ordering and managing stock and equipment

·         Accurate record keeping

·         Completing referrals and forms ready for therapy colleagues

·         Supporting therapy colleagues in providing timely interventions

 

The post holder will require good secretarial, clerical, communication and interpersonal skills to fulfil this exciting and diverse role.

 

The successful candidate for this post will be expected to ideally work over 5 days. Some flexibility can be offered but the hours must be completed within the core working hours of 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday.

 

A flexible approach to day-to-day tasks is essential in order to meet the demands of the service. Experience of NHS working or working in a hospital setting is highly desirable.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work closely with the Therapy Team to ensure the delivery of a high quality service.  This will require the utilisation of good secretarial, clerical, communication and interpersonal skills.

-          delivers effective support by the management of information relating to patients receiving treatment from the Therapy service

-          provides a consistent and efficient clerical support service to the Therapy Team and wider unit as appropriate

      -    demonstrates effective time management and workload prioritisation

  • NVQ 3 in Business Administration or equivalent qualification and/or knowledge through formal training and experience

Experience

  • Excellent IT skills with knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office products
  • Significant experience working in an office environment
