Job overview
We are currently recruiting an Appraisal and Revalidation HR Advisor to join our friendly and busy Appraisal and Revalidation Team, based at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. The successful candidate can be based at either Whiston Hospital or Ormskirk Hospital and will be expected to occasionally travel across site. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the delivery of appraisal and revalidation support, along with supporting the Assistant HR Business Partner with key appraisal and revalidation initiatives.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or aspiring Appraisal and Revalidation HR Advisor that has a proven record of attention to detail, improving processes and ways of working. Excellent attention to detail is required along with the ability and experiences of working to deadlines. to. You will be able to demonstrate good knowledge of appraisal and revalidation process. Deliver best practice and ensure excellent service level provision. You will have proven experience of co ordinating stakeholder engagement events. You will have a good working knowledge of HR systems and strong MS Excel skills

Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a team consisting of an Assistant Director of HR, 4 Heads of HR, a Senior HR Business Partner and a team of HR Business Partners, Assistant HR Business Partners and HR Advisors.
Working alongside the HR Business Partners and Assistant HR Business Partners, play an integral role in supporting the monitoring and delivery of appraisal and revalidation activity for the Medical workforce, whilst escalating appropriately.
Through effective support provide appraisal and revalidation advice and guidance to managers within a designated area of responsibility. Provide advice to managers and staff, on the full range of appraisal and revalidation HR policies, practices and procedures ensuring compliance with best practice. Assist managers in monitoring and managing performance against service delivery plans.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
KEY DUTIES
-
To provide advice and guidance on a day-to-day basis to Trust medical staff across a wide range of issues pertaining to medical appraisal, revalidation, designated body and governance issues.
Ensure full timely process of GMC connection with the Trust. Ensuring that all doctors with a prescribed connection to the Trust are in scope and escalating where there is concern.
On behalf of the RO, support the requests for RO-to-RO transfer of information (the pre –employment revalidation reference) and other information flows, both outgoing and incoming
To support the co-ordination and management of the 360-feedback process for doctors and dentists and support the process confidentially and discreetly with any 360 reports detailing concerns.
Maintain an effective 'bring forward' system, ensuring that deadlines are adhered to, and action is taken as appropriate.
The post-holder will co-lead with the Medic Appraisal Lead in the coordination and delivery of workshops.
Support the Assistant HR Business Partner with the GMC ELA regarding any issues related to the appraisal and revalidation of the trust medical workforce.

Support and lead on a variety of key appraisal projects to enhance the employee experience and continually improve medical appraisal and revalidation services.
Maintain accurate records and filing systems and keep up to date the monitoring tracker/ case log.
Maintain and manage Trust recording systems to ensure information is updated timely and accurately.
Maintain the intranet page with appraisal and revalidation information including briefing sessions to enable the whole of the medical & dental workforce with a prescribed connection to the Trust and key stakeholders to be kept informed.

Comment on and contribute to the review and development of Medical Appraisal and Revalidation Policies and Procedures
Apply systems and processes to ensure Medical Appraisal, Revalidation and Governance is continually embedded into the organisation.
Maintain the Medical Appraisal and Revalidation risk assurance framework.
Contribute towards the annual self-assessment against national audit standards and support external audits of the Trusts Medical Appraisal and Revalidation policies, systems and process

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- CIPD Level 5 qualified or willingness to work towards
- Evidence of continuing professional development or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD)
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Working knowledge of the process of Medical Revalidation
- Highly developed planning and prioritisation skills
- Excellent communication skills to engage NHS Senior Managers and Clinicians
- Experience of working with senior medical leaders
- Experience of working in an educational/medical administration environment
- Experience of facilitating/training/coaching or instructing people in the use of a system
Desirable criteria
- Specialist knowledge and use of electronic record system / Learning Management System / Medical Appraisal & Revalidation System
- Knowledge of regulation in relation to Medical Appraisal & Revalidation and of the specific underpinning processes
