Seddon Suite Specialist Rehabilitation Unit – St Helens Hospital
Permanent full time post (part time considered)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team on Seddon Suite Specialist Rehabilitation Unit, St Helens Hospital. This is post includes working one in every four weekends.
The successful applicant will be part of a motivated, forward thinking, multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dietitians, Rehabilitation Assistants, Clinical Psychologists, a Rehabilitation Coordinator, Social Worker and Rehabilitation Nurses. The medical team is led by a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine. Previous experience within a hospital/rehabilitation environment would be preferable however this is not essential.

Main duties of the job
Seddon Suite offers a dedicated seven-day inpatient rehabilitation service for Merseyside residents. It is part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network providing specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults following traumatic injury or serious illness. The rehabilitation unit has 20 beds, with facilities for a range of therapeutic treatments. Rehabilitation is active with individualised intensity and duration that is patient specific in order to facilitate optimum functional recovery. Our team of professionals work closely with patients and families to achieve the best possible level of independence and quality of life. In addition to the inpatients service, the unit also offers out-patient therapy services.
The successful candidate will work with therapists to carry out rehabilitation interventions with in-patients, as well as have the ability to work unsupervised to carry out treatment plans set by qualified therapists. Interventions may include strengthening programmes, gait re-education, wheelchair skills, cognitive strategies, practice of functional tasks and group work. The role will also involve working collaboratively with other professionals and local organisations.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Other responsibilities will include administration and clerical tasks including effective documentation in clinical case notes, tracking, auditing and maintaining equipment, housekeeping duties and contributing to service development.
