Job overview
A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a hardworking and proactive individual to join our busy department in Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust, based on the Broadgreen site. This role provides an excellent opportunity for you to train and achieve a degree in Audiology. We are looking for a caring individual who wants to develop advanced communication skills, has a passion for science and enjoys working as part of a busy multi-disciplinary team. You will work in a supported learning environment to develop skills and knowledge to complete your qualification in Audiology.

The Successful candidate will be required to demonstrate commitment to the apprenticeship training study requirements and will complete apprenticeship level 6 within the proposed time frame of 4-5 years, including both academic and practical assessments.
You will need to fully engage in clinical and academic work to enable you to achieve the full range of competences, skills and behaviours within the job description, by the end of the degree programme. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship in BSC (Hons) in Healthcare Science (Audiology), it will be a requirement to register with the professional body (RCCP or HCPC).

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to attend Aston University and work placement as set out in the training programme and will also need to be able to attend community clinics during their apprenticeship.
The post holder will have to complete and pass appropriate academic training modules to the required breadth and depth of underpinning knowledge.
The post holder will gain practical understanding and experience of the whole range of Audiology services.
The post holder will undertake work based training in conjunction with the Practitioner Training Programme supported by the Academy of Healthcare Science
The post holder will be expected to successfully complete apprenticeship level 6 within the proposed time frame of 4-5 years including academic and practical assessment and registration with the professional body (RCCP or HCPC).

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc(Hons) / Diploma in Audiology or equivalent
- Will have achieved a minimum of BSc in Audiology (or equivalent qualifications Diploma in Audiology, H’Tech/B’Tec MPPM/NVQ3 and BAAT parts 1 & 2)
- Responsible for own CPD and professional qualifications compliance
Desirable criteria
- Registered with AHCS or HCPC
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in adult testing, hearing aid fittings and rehabilitation
- Application of advances in own practice
- Evidenced experience working in an acute care setting. This may have been gained during placement year
Desirable criteria
- Evidenced post qualification experience
- Voluntary work in an Audiology related field
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge acquired through trainee experience within an Audiology department
- Knowledge of NHS networks/ referral routes
Desirable criteria
- A working knowledge of an NHS Audiology patient management system.

- Basic counselling
- Computer skills – database use
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on own initiative within the role
- Able to plan and prioritise own case load
