Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6/7 critical care nurse who has experience of clinical education in a critical care environment, to join our highly motivated and committed critical care team.

Experience and evidence of teaching and assessing in practice is crucial, together with a relevant post -registration critical care course and teaching and assessing qualification. The successful educator must be able to demonstrate vision and flair, and have a real passion for teaching others the art and practice of critical care nursing.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work closely with our current clinical educator, leading in the provision of education & professional development of all staff within critical care. Together with the units lead nurse, you will support in developing the units education strategy.

You will be able to demonstrate current experience and commitment to developing effective educational, managerial & leadership skills, a good degree of professional maturity and the ability to work in a highly pressurised environment.

You will lead in the creation of an environment which values education as part of the philosophy of critical care and have the ability to up take the clinical role as senior sister/ charge nurse as necessary.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • First level Registration NMC
  • Significant and relevant experience in a relevant setting
  • Critical care course/ ENB 100 or equivalent
  • Recognised Post Graduate teaching certificate or working towards
  • Experience of delivering education within a healthcare setting
  • Working towards Master’s Degree in Advanced Practice/ MA in clinical education
  • ENB 998/ City & Guilds 7307 or equivalent teaching & assessing Qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Management Certificate
  • Advanced Life Provider
