Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the  service delivering health promoting programmes in schools and youth settings, and facilitating drop-ins for young people to build knowledge and resilience as well as reducing risks . This vacancy will be specifically focused on the aspect of relationships and sex education to cover a maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

To deliver a range of health promoting programmes alongside sensitive and responsive strategies and activities for inclusion in schools and a variety of settings including: relationship and sexual health, mental wellbeing, physical activity, substance misuse, oral health, food and nutrition and lifestyle/weight management.

To develop and deliver health care and health promotion as a member of the Let’s Talk Service, using evidence-based practice and accessing professional leadership, management, and supervision.

To contribute to the development of best practice and facilitate shared learning to develop services and initiatives that meet local needs for children and young people, in relation to aims and objectives of Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust.

To develop effective links with key people in delivering services.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • Training in the delivery of an area of health and wellbeing with young people specific to the ‘Let’s talk’ service: relationships and sex education; drugs education; or healthy weight
  • Previous Training in children’s safeguarding

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Demonstratable experience of working with groups of vulnerable young people
  • Up to date with current guidance on at least one area of health and wellbeing delivered by the service: relationships and sex education; drugs education; or healthy weight
  • Experience of the issues affecting young people, particularly vulnerable or excluded groups
  • Understand the importance of maintaining WCHCT’s confidentiality policy and the law, guidance and safeguarding issues relating to advice and treatment offered to under 16’s.
  • Has knowledge of social and situational factors influencing children and young peoples health and wellbeing
  • Understands the principles of equality and diversity

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills, especially with children and young people and excluded groups
  • Good verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to network and build sustainable working partnerships with other agencies and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to organise own workload and work without direct supervision
