Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Wirral  0-19 team as a Public Health Nurse, supporting the delivery of a public health offer in  support of children and young people with Neurodevelopmental needs such as ADHD and ASD .  The role gives a great insight to our service and those from partner agencies,  and has supported employees to develop into other roles associated with public health and 0-19 services. We have great feedback from students and staff who enjoy working within a friendly and supportive team.

Main duties of the job

 Supporting the 0-19 service to deliver the neurodevelopmental offer  in Wirral.

Prioritising care for vulnerable children and Young People

Wirral  0-19 service is a friendly supportive team  offering staff the opportunity to work flexibly if needed. 

We work with the trust values of compassion openness and Trust ensuring that we demonstrate these values to children and families in Wirral and to each other.

We have daily safety huddles to support staff at the beginning of each day and monthly team meetings.

Supervision is available to all staff both planned and reactive.

We work closely with our specialist Safeguarding nurses to ensure staff feel supported and have access to appropriate training and induction

The successful candidate will work as part of the 0-19 service, delivering public health offer across Wirral 

The role also includes providing leadership to junior colleagues and new starters, organising/ work planning and delegation and chairing and attending meetings.

Qualifications and Professional Training

Essential criteria
  • RN (Adult or Child/RSCN) or RM
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship
  • Motivational Interviewing

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Working within the 0-19 Team and evidence of managing a school nursing caseload
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding issues
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Ability to use email, internet and word processing software.
Desirable criteria
  • Delivering public health sessions in schools

Skills and Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Good verbal and non-verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to support students in placement
