Job overview

We are seeking applications for a Band 7 Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for supporting children and young people who attend special schools. 

The role includes speech, language and communication assessment and intervention for children and young people who have an EHCP.

The postholder will lead in service development work for specific areas of the Children's Speech and Language Therapy service and will take a lead in clinical supervision for their specialist area.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic Speech and Language Therapist with excellent communication skills to join our Children's Community Speech and Language Therapy team. The role will involve holding a caseload, leading on service developments and supervising other members of the team.

The post holder will work closely with all other members of the team, including more junior employees, where they will be expected to lead, supervise and delegate. The post holder will have experience of working with children and young people within special schools.  The post holder will also have some experience of leading quality improvement projects.

You must have a Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification, be registered with the HCPC, and have relevant experience. The ability to drive and have access to a car is essential.

Qualifications and professional training

Essential criteria
  • SLT degree or recognised equivalent
  • Registered member of RCSLT
  • Registered member of HCPC
  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of postgraduate study.

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 3 years qualified with relevant specialist experience
  • Experience of supervising / mentoring junior staff / students
  • Experience of training others in specialist area
  • Can manage own caseload of complex problems independently
  • Knowledge of current trends in the management of specialist area
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of project management
