The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.

Based in Wirral, Merseyside and supported by a radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site in Liverpool, we also operate specialist chemotherapy clinics in five of Merseyside’s district hospitals and deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service.

In May 2020 we will expand our expert services into central Liverpool when we open a brand new specialist cancer hospital. Based on the same thriving research and healthcare campus as the University of Liverpool and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, the new hospital will ensure every patient has access to the most advanced treatments and clinical trials.

Together, working across all sites and operating a practised network of chemotherapy clinics we deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We are also the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region’s Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust).

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre currently have an opportunity for an Assistant HR Advisor, Band 4.  The position is based at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Wirral however we are a multi-site Trust delivering services across the Wirral, Cheshire and Merseyside and therefore the post holder will need to be prepared to travel to other sites including our new Specialist Cancer Hospital in Liverpool on an ad hoc basis (approximately once a week).

This is a great opportunity for you to be part of a team supporting the Trust during a significant period of change as we prepare to open our new hospital in Liverpool in May 2020. You will:

  • Ensure the provision of a confidential, professional and timely first line support and administrative service to the Workforce and Organisational Development Department
  • Co-ordinate a range of activities and projects to support the work and business objectives of the Workforce and OD Team (WOD), including Job Evaluation, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and governance procedures
  • Provide first line advice, guidance and information to managers and staff on all HR issues ensuring the importance of customer service standards are met.
  • Support and contribute to the effective maintenance of the WOD departments documentation, records and policies. 

 This is varied role where the successful applicant will need to be able to multi task, have excellent planning and time management skills, to be a team player and be prepared to move seamlessly from task to another.  You will have developed good interpersonal and communication skills during your career and have experience of working within a HR environment. The Trust will support you to progress with your CIPD qualification to level 3/5 as appropriate via the apprenticeship levy.
