Job overview

We are seeking a 12 month fixed term  Consultant Radiologist with a Specialist interest in Breast Radiology to work within a cohesive team at Wirral University Teaching Hospital.

Candidates should be able to handle risk and ambiguity comfortably and will be expected  bring intellect and insight to leading on complex services.

This role will require an exceptional communicator who will be politically astute and quickly able to develop strong relationships internally and with a wide range of external stakeholders. Main duties of the job

Daily roles and responsibilities for this post involve all aspects of screening and symptomatic breast imaging work including Mammography, Ultrasound and MRI 

The post holder is required to be an enthusiastic team player, participate in audit, and quality improvement activity to drive the service forward.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • FRCR or equivalent qualification.
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant higher degree.

Fitness to Practice

Essential criteria
  • Is up to date and fit to practise safely.

Elegibility

Essential criteria
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

Training

Essential criteria
  • Should have completed training in radiology within a recognised training programme.
Desirable criteria
  • Higher level subspecialty training.

Clinical Experience in Speciality/Subspeciality

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances. Demonstrable competencies in general radiology across Radiography/Ultrasound/CT and MRI.
  • Demonstrate evidence of higher level training in Breast Radiology.

Research

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of the ability to carry out quality improvement work and/or medical research.

Communication Skills

Essential criteria
  • All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication of medical topics with patients and colleagues.

Teaching

Essential criteria
  • Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.

Audit

Essential criteria
  • Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.

Managment

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of current issues in the NHS.
Desirable criteria
  • Attendance at recognised management course.

Interpersonal Skills

Essential criteria
  • Well organised and skilled in good time management.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team.
