Job overview
We are looking for enthusiastic, forward thinking, professional and friendly staff nurses to join the team within the Medical Day Case Unit based in Arrowe Park Hospital.
This post is currently Monday - Friday working 8am-4pm.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate enhanced clinical knowledge of both day case procedures alongside ambulatory care models of working. This candidate with need to be competent in numerous clinical skills such as venepuncture, complex management of lines/ drains, ANTT practices and pre / post operative recovery monitoring, alongside the ability to prioritise own workload with minimal supervision.
Main duties of the job
The Medical Day Case Unit works in conjunction with many of the specialities teams with the recent addition of Cardiac, Heart Failure, Frailty, Respiratory, Haematology and Gastroenterology Ambulatory services to promote admission avoidance and deliver safe planned care.
The Unit also offers recovery for Interventional Radiology patients to ensure that they can undergo specialised investigation and be discharged home the same day following a short recovery period.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of day care. Experience of cannulation, PICC Lines, post- procedure care is essential. An evidenced and proven record of change and development is also essential.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent infection control practice along with evidence of working within the Trust values.
The successful candidate must have experience of working with the public, and be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

Essential criteria
- 1 st Level NMC Registration
 - Evidence of Professional Development
 - Suitable for newly qualified or experienced staff nurse
 - Experience of maintaining accurate records
 - Relevant clinical knowledge and experience
 
Desirable criteria
- Willing to undertake NMC Assessor and mentorship
 - Relevant Degree or willing to register to work towards degree
 - Relevant or willingness to undertake relevant module/course
 - NHS Experience
 - Awareness of Health Policies and the changing NHS environment
