Are you a dynamic leader? Are you able to lead a team of perioperative practitioners  with the perioperative environment leading practitioners to deliver high class quality care? The Directorate of Perioperative Medicine is going through some exciting changes to support the highest quality of care to our patients and we want you on our team.

Wirral University Teaching Hospital is seeking to recruit an experienced Perioperative practitioner with leadership skills  to join the directorate of perioperative medicine senior leadership team, supporting  our operating theatres specifically Trauma and Orthopaedics.

Main duties of the job

With responsibility for the day to day management of  workforce, clinical specialism and patient flow,  you will lead change in the department supporting the perioperative improvement programme.  Clinical specialisms include,  Trauma and Orthopaedics procedures.

The potential post holder will report directly to the perioperative medicine Matron  forging  close partnerships with other senior leaders in both the directorate and Surgical division. The post holder will provide strong leadership, and be a visible, credible senior presence, be accessible to staff patients and families where required.   As successful candidate you will be responsible and accountable for safety, quality and workforce within your team working collaboratively with wider teams to deliver the highest quality care to patients. 

This post is open to both NMC registered Nurses and HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioners. We are looking for a highly motived, passionate health care professional who possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to motivate and negotiate and is passionate about perioperative care. This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period in line with trust policy.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse or ODP with current NMC/HCPC registration
  • Post Graduate degree in health care subject (or working towards)
  • Teaching and Assessing Qualification in health care
  • IT skills including Office applications and health care databases
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership Qualification (ILM/Leadership Degree)
