Job overview

We are looking to recruit Clinical Support Workers to join our established Nursing Team. 

We are looking for Clinical Support Workers who are motivated and want to make a difference to patient outcomes and wish to join our welcoming team.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity of work in two different  acute environments allowing them to develop their skills in both trauma and elective orthopaedics.

Ward 12  is the Elective Orthopaedic Unit which has 13 beds for patients undergoing complex total hip and total knee replacements.

WAFFU  ( Wirral Acute femoral Fracture Unit) is an 8 bedded admission unit which specialises in providing care for trauma patients with a fractured hip. 

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities; 

  • Provide and support patients as necessary with both personal and clinical care.
  • Maintain accurate records of the patients care, documenting as appropriate of electronic patient record.
  • Observe patient and report any changes to Registered Nurse 
  • Report any anormal findings directly to registered nurse/professional or doctor 
  • undertake a range of basic housekeeping, stock control, and administrative duties within the clinical environment.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Level 3 qualification (e.g. A levels or NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or a good standard of education to A Level standard and the agreement to undertake Level 3 Qualification upon appointment
  • Eexperience working in a clinical environment and undertaking a range of relevant clinical skills with proven competencies
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in NHS

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of competence in relevant specialist skills or tasks
  • Knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities of a Clinical Support Worker
  • Previous experience and training of manual handling patients using appropriate equipment
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the importance of promoting patient independence
Desirable criteria
  • Able to provide support and reassurance to patients.
