Job overview

an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join the superb Leverhulme Surgical Unit and M2 Surgery team.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years post registration experience and a passion for service improvement and development.

excellent communication skills are essential along with high standards of extended clinical skills. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a delivered service development. Recent experience within surgical setting is desirable. 

Main duties of the job

Support senior leadership team in service provision and development within the Elective care pathway of both in-patients and day case surgery.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Support senior leadership team in service provision and development within the Elective care pathway of both in-patients and day case surgery. Day to day management of the Unit including Appraisals, Mandatory training, sickness, performance management.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • 1 st Level Registered Nurse (relevant to area of work)
  • Relevant diploma / degree or due for completion within 12 months
  • Minimum of three years post-registration experience of which two years should be at Primary Nurse or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification
  • Recognised teaching qualification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Relevant Clinical knowledge/experience of the speciality
Desirable criteria
  • Student nurse assessor
  • Evidence of ability to act as a preceptor/mentor to new staff
  • Evidence of involvement in producing teaching strategies/packages
