We are looking to recruit a forward thinking, highly motivated and experienced nurse leader who will champion a high level of professional standards and excellence within children’s services.   This post has become vacant due to the current post holder promotion.  

As a Matron you will be highly visible and accessible to children, families and staff and will focus on improving the fundamental and essential aspects of family care. The role will be overseeing the children’s ward/elective care, paediatric assessment area and children’s ED. Training and development opportunities will be offered and bespoke to individual needs.

The successful applicant with have worked in a leadership role at band 7 or above. Training and development opportunities will be offered and bespoke to individual needs.

Reporting to the Head of Paediatric  & Neonatal Services/Associate Director of Nursing the post holder is responsible for and will have a specific focus on visible, accessible and strong clinical leadership, patient experience and the delivery of safe, timely, high quality care.

The post holder will lead service and quality improvement programmes alongside supporting the operational management of the Division. This includes ensuring efficient and effective use of resources and the development and maintenance of the highest standards of patient care and service delivery.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have an enhanced DBS check. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 months.

  • First level nurse: part 1 of NMC register or HCPC registered
  • Hold relevant degree and working towards master’s level
  • Holds a relevant teaching and assessing qualification
  • On-going professional development with documented evidence

  • Management qualification

Knowledge and Skills

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of business planning or project management
