Job overview

To contribute to the provision of health care to the people of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB), with responsibility for the assessment of care needs, and the delivery and evaluation of skilled professional care to the patient in the peri-operative care environment.

 

The post holder will be expected to:

 

·         Act as a credible and professional role model.

·         Provide leadership, guidance, advice and liaison to the multi-disciplinary team.

·         Provide a conducive learning environment for students and registered staff.

·         Encourage and empower staff to develop both personally and professionally.

·         Provide the highest level of clinical expertise within the peri-operative care environment.

·         Manage the resources for the clinical environments.

·         Manage the department as required.

·         Maintain and develop professional standards.

·         Ensure the highest standards of patient care which reflects the standards and values of the University Health Board.

·         Lead a multi-disciplinary theatre team in the absence of the Team Leader.

·         Provide technical/specialist assistance in sphere of peri-operative practice.

·         Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures within sphere of responsibility.

·         Deputise for the Clinical Team Leader as required.

 

 

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Anaesthetic Practitioner at Princess of Wales Hospital theatre department. We seek enthusiastic individuals to work in Main Theatres covering a variety of specialities. The role encompasses all shift types to meet departmental needs, requires individuals who are hard working, motivated and keen to further their development within a supportive culture You will be expected to use clinical and evidenced based knowledge and skills to actively contribute to service development across the perioperative pathway, identifying opportunities and supporting individuals in the delivery of high quality patient care.

The Operating Theatres are a really exciting and interesting place to work. Emergency cover is 24/7 365 days a year with on-call provision. This is a big opportunity in a vibrant Health Board, who is committed to staff education and development with a Perioperative Educator available to teach on site and support is provided through mentors and a highly experienced team.

  • Registered Operating Department Practitioner with Current valid UK Registration with HCPC
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching/Training/Mentorship qualification

Knowledge & Experience

  • Significant Band 5 Anaesthetic Experience
  • Experience of Leading & Managing Staff
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working clinically out of hours
  • Experience of deputising in absence of Deputy Clinical Lead

  • IT knowledge and skills
