A brilliant opportunity has arisen for a talented, experienced and pro-active pharmacy technician to develop and lead the provision of high-quality pharmacy services at HMP & YOI Parc, within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

The secure environment is a unique setting that combines elements of Primary Care, Hospital and Community pharmacy. This is a new post which will work closely with the senior pharmacy team, both within HMP & YOI Parc and more widely across CTMUHB, as well as the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy services to patients at HMP & YOI Parc.
This is a hugely exciting time for an individual with drive, passion and vision to join the team with various projects ongoing including delivery of a wide-scale training programme to the pharmacy team and planning for service delivery to an increased patient population in line with the proposed HMP & YOI Parc expansion plans. Main duties of the job
As Chief Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of pharmacy services at HMP & YOI Parc, ensuring the safe administration of medication to patients in line with national and organisational standards. This includes leading and managing the Pharmacy team, consisting of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support staff, and planning, auditing, monitoring and developing the services in liaison with the management team.
This is a rewarding role for an individual who has strong leadership skills, is an excellent communicator, confident and able to deliver a pharmacy service across Primary Care, Substance Misuse & Mental Health Services. You will be responsible for all aspects of strategic management of the medicines management service, in conjunction with other senior team members, whilst fostering effective working relationships with operational colleagues and other stakeholders.
This post is key to the development and delivery of high quality, evidence based health and wellbeing services to give prisoners access to interventions and support equitable to those provided by the NHS in the community. To support this, you will be responsible for ensuring recruitment, training programmes, induction plans, and competency assessments are developed and maintained within the pharmacy service and for all grades of pharmacy technician and assistant staff.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with GPhC.
- National Accreditation for Checking Technicians.
- Medicines Management accreditation.
- Demonstrable considerable expertise and knowledge of dispensing and checking practices equivalent to pharmacy Degree level
Desirable criteria
- Management qualification.
- NVQ Level 4 qualification in an appropriate discipline.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post qualification pharmacy experience including working as a Pharmacy Technician at a Higher Level.
- Experience of training and mentoring staff.
- Experience of service development and change management processes.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in secure environment pharmacy services
Skills and Attributes
Essential criteria
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are Desirable for this Role.
