Job overview

To support the provision of Health and Social Care to the people experiencing mental ill health in a range of settings within the context of a multi-disciplinary secondary care service and support the delivery of evidence based mental health care to clients in resource centres and a range of community premises. 

The post holder will, on occasions be required to work without direct supervision. 

The post holder will assist with the organisation and facilitation of the medication monitoring clinics and therapeutic groups. 

Main duties of the job

Work within a multi-disciplinary team under the direction of a Team Leader or community psychiatric nurse (CPN). 

Provide support to service users on an individual base, in their own home and in the community. 

With support and supervision from Team Leader and CPN/CC be responsible for and manage own workload and safety.  

Actively participate in continuing professional development through the Knowledge Skills Framework. 

Prepare and facilitate medication clinics undertaking venepuncture and ECG monitoring.

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding and appreciation of Mental Health issues. An understanding of the need to maintain professional boundaries. A basic understanding of the Mental Health Act & Mental Health Measures. Good communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to work on own initiative. Ability to work as part of a Team. Ability to keep calm in stressful situations. Ability to demonstrate person centred approach. A good standard of general education including literacy and numeracy skills. Must be NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of competency assessed training.
Desirable criteria
  • Venepuncture training. Trained to undertake ECGs.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a mental health setting.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of group work

  • Present a positive image ensuring adherence to the uniform policy Flexible, confident and positive in approach Reliable and resilient.
