Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurses to join our dynamic and committed  team on Ward 9  at the Princess of Wales Hospital, the team  comprises of consultants, advanced nurse practitioners  and the nursing team who all work together  to provide  excellent care for this speciality of patient. 

We are looking for staff who have an interest in supporting and treating  patients with chronic and acute Gastroenterology medical conditions. We are looking for motivated, caring individuals who strive to achieve high standards of care for all patients with a passion for the speciality. 
We will be committed to your wellbeing and development and will provide all the education and training you will need. 

 The post holder will carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and indirect care for the benefit of the patient/client in accordance with agreed protocols. 

 

Main duties of the job

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO MATERNITY COVER

The post holder will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work as a team on their own initiative. Staff will be required to be well organised and have time good time management skills and the ability to work as part of a team or on their own initiative with high standards.

There will be opportunities for internal development as the University Health Board has a dedicated training and development department offering a wide range of in house courses. We also have close links with the University of South Wales  to support your ongoing professional development which you will be required to demonstrate as part of re-validation.  Informal visits are encouraged pre shortlisting. 

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a Health Board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.
