THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR UPTO 18 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE
This is an exciting new opportunity with the Bridgend Locality Primary Care Mental Health Support Service. The existing team includes Assessor Practitioners and Primary Care and High Intensity Therapists. The role aims to improve access to low intensity interventions, providing intervention in line with the Mental Health Measure (2010) . The primary mental health support service offers Assessment, advice, information & treatment for condition specific mental health issues.
Main duties of the job
· To effectively manage a defined group of clients under the supervision of the LPMHSS Senior Therapist.
· To participate in the delivery of a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions on a 1:1 and group basis with the supervision and support of relevant members of the Local Primary Mental Health Support Service.
· This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- A recognised qualification in Counselling/psychological therapy (Degree or post grad diploma), registered with BABCP, BACP or HCPC and working towards accreditation. Demonstrates an understanding of common mental health conditions. Demonstrates an understanding of the need to use evidence-based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post. Good understanding of the Mental Health Measure Part 1 and 2, Matrics Cymru. Evidence of post registration and post qualification study and CPD.
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrates knowledge of societal issues and the impact it can have on mental health. Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems and their effects. Completed training in the delivery of low intensity psychological therapies as designated in Matrics Cymru.
- Competence in research design and methodologies.
- Regard for others and respect for individual rights of autonomy and confidentiality. Ability to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users, as well as in personal and professional development and supervision.
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are Desirable for this Role.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with people with mental health problems. Experience of effective case load management. Experience of working with individuals or groups utilising CBT or other psychological approaches. Experience of setting up and facilitating group work. Have experience in working with people with mental health conditions.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in NHS Primary Care Services. Experience of Working in a service where agreed targets are in place, demonstrating clinical outcomes. Evidence of working in the local community and with third sector organisations.
