Job overview

To contribute to the provision of health care for the population of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) by providing a day-to-day maintenance service, ensuring the Estate is maintained to a high standard, whilst providing a safe environment for patients, public and staff.

Main duties of the job

Undertakes unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work that does not justify the attention of a fully qualified craftsperson.

 Liaises with other maintenance staff and customers with regard to progress of maintenance work and solution of possible problems.

Performs semi-skilled tasks using relevant tools, equipment and knowledge, within own area of expertise e.g. :

§    Carries out Bed/Wheelchair maintenance.

§    Undertakes safety checks and records temperatures on water and heating systems.

§    Fills liquid nitrogen flasks as required.

§    Carries out general driving duties.

§    Assist with fire alarm testing as required.

§    Carries out utility meter readings as required.

§    Filter changing on ventilation plants.

§    Change small cupboard locks.

§    Carries out semi-skilled reactive maintenance duties:

-      unblocking of drains.

-      changing tap washers.

-      changing toilet flushes.

-      changing tubes and batteries.

-      replaces siphons and ball valves.

-      unblocks sluices.
