Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time midwife to join our specialist Diabetes team . 

 

The post holder will work across sites and using advanced midwifery  practice, and be expected to deliver patient centred advice, support and care, specifically for antenatal patients with pre-existing diabetes and those who develop gestational diabetes, and for patients during the intrapartum and postnatal period, their families and carers.

 

Acting as a professional resource for other health care professionals within Primary and Secondary Care, you will be expected to assist in the design and delivery of educational programmes and study days appropriate to this area of speciality. 

 

The post holder will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

 

Main duties of the job

In addition to your clinical role, you will aim to raise the awareness and improve standards of inpatient diabetes care through planning and implementation of specialised programmes of education and training within your area of specialty. 

 

Through effective working practices, you will continue the philosophy of jointly working with other health care professionals to develop a holistic support network for people with diabetes within the Health Board, specialist units and Primary Care.

 

The post holder will be responsible for audit of your specialty and dissemination of their results, and undertake research and development activity, including being involved with clinical trials, as required.

 

As a member of the Senior Team, the post holder will be required to participate in a Maternity on-call rota as and when required.

 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
