Job overview
We have two exciting opportunities to work as a MSK Clinical specialist across both secondary care, primary care FCP service and within orthopaedic clinic. We have two posts available based in Princess of Wales, Bridgend and Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda with a specialist interest in upper limb rehabilitation. This job has a mixed job plan between FCP and core physiotherapy.
Work as an autonomous practitioner managing patients with highly specialised complex needs in a variety of care settings.
Work collaboratively with other professions e.g. GPs, consultants, nurses and other AHPs to provide expert patient centred musculoskeletal care.
Contribute to the development of professional practice and the transformation and evaluation of service delivery.
Support the research and innovation agenda through participating in research and development activity.
Lead aspects of service evaluation with an emphasis on value based care and complex audit within their area.
Work in partnership with service users and staff to achieve improved health outcomes for service users and develop clinical pathways.

Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist who wishes to further extend their clinical skills and join the Physiotherapy service in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
This post will take a leadership role within the physiotherapy service, managing complex patients throughout their pathway. We are ideally looking for someone with experience in advanced practice roles, with injection, prescribing and imaging capabilities, although for the right candidate there will be support to develop this skill set too.
This role involves:
- Providing expert physiotherapeutic assessment, treatment, prognosis and advice to a complex and diverse range of patients within the musculoskeletal specialism.
- Independently determine the clinical diagnosis and future clinical management of presenting patients through the appropriate means.
- Acting as a skilled and expert resource to clinical colleagues with regards to musculoskeletal issues. Providing teaching and mentoring to peers and junior staff and students.
- Working with Radiology, Primary care and orthopaedics colleagues to develop services and pathways that are patient centered and offer best practice.
- Contributing to multidisciplinary audit research and evaluation of the clinical effectiveness and evidence base for the management of musculoskeletal conditions.
