Job overview
There is an exciting opportunity for a part time Band 3 Occupational Therapy assistant post in our Occupational Therapy Older Persons Mental Health Service within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (UHB).
The post holder will join a team of Occupational Therapists that support older adults with complex mental health needs within an inpatient setting. The post holder will also be required to support some patients within a community setting to assess needs and functioning.
Main duties of the job
The aim of this role is to support the Occupational Therapist with the long term reablement and maintenance of cognitive functional skills, of people with organic and functional mental health. The successful post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working in a variety of settings, to support delivery of services to older people with complex metal health needs.
The post holder will be required to work the hours flexibly, to meet the needs of the service throughout the CTM. The successful applicant will need to be a team player, who is flexible, resourceful, and keen to demonstrate the distinctive contribution and added value that an Occupational Therapy assistant can offer the multi-disciplinary team.
You will need good communication and time management skills, and be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in achieving the well-being and positive health outcomes for older adults with mental health needs. The post holder will be based within a supportive team made up of Health and Social Care Professionals, Occupational Therapy, Mental health nurses, Health Care Support Workers, and third sector partners.
You will receive regular supervision and appraisal with the Occupational Therapist. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills, within this speciality, and will be expected to take an active role in your CPD.
