Job overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Highly Specialist Dietitian to join our CAMHS team, with a strong background in working with Children and Young People experiencing Eating Disorders. Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a responsive highly specialist service to young people with a mental health disorder receiving community input within CTMUHB Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.
The overall aim is to provide Dietetic expertise, intervention and consultation, as part of the Community Services.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
- MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge and advanced post graduate training/experience in specialist clinical dietetics.
- Health and Care Professions Council registration (HCPC).
- Detailed specialist clinical knowledge of dietetic treatment commonly required to those with mental health disorders, including specialist clinical knowledge of Eating Disorders.
- Specialist knowledge of impact of mental health disorders on patients nutritional needs and management of dietetic intervention to achieve optimum nutrition.
- Knowledge of audit and research and its application to dietetic intervention.
- Evidence of clinical supervision.
Desirable criteria
- Student clinical educator’s course
- Post registration behaviour change training.
- Knowledge of paediatric/ adolescent nutritional requirements.
- Awareness and knowledge of safeguarding including its implementation.
- Understanding of relevant legislation (including but not limited to Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act etc
- Awareness of Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
Experience
Essential criteria
- Clinical experience of dietetic treatment within mental health services at a senior level, including experience relating to complex nutritional and Mental Health needs of patients
- Experience of working as part of a clinical team to deliver patient and organisational objectives.
- Significant experience of working with a broad range of patients across a variety of clinical settings.
- Demonstrates evidence-based specialist clinical knowledge.
- Experience of organising and implementing training programmes for staff, patients and students.
- Practical experience of human resource management, supervision and mentoring
Desirable criteria
- Experience in operational management/leadership.
- Experience of CAMHS/ Paediatrics.

- Skills in influencing and persuasion on specialist clinical issues with a wide range of staff and internal and external to CTMUHB.

- Proven ability of practice nutrition and dietetics in a wide variety of environments.

Essential criteria
- Able to travel from base to other locations in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ability to carry out accurate anthropometric measurements especially in regards to paediatrics/ adolescents.
