Job overview
Job Summary/Job Purpose:
The post holder is expected to work with autonomy to provide highly specialised
professional advice to colleagues to ensure high standards of direct care delivery. This includes interpreting and implementing national policy and supporting systems for professional revalidation and performance management of ward managers that are accountable for quality, safe care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Have overall responsibility and accountability for the operational management and governance of their area of responsibility within Royal Glamorgan Hospital (RGH) and Prince Charles Hospital (PCH) ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.
- Have delegated budgetary responsibility for nursing and allied healthcare professional services within the sphere of responsibility, and be an authorised signatory in line with the University Health Board financial control procedures/scheme of delegation.
- To undertake financial assessments of new developments or changes in service provision and monitoring of benefits within the sphere of responsibility. To contribute to the Services Cost Improvement Plan and Income Generation Targets and endeavour to seek ways of improving value for money.
- Implement and evaluate the University Health Board Resource and Operational Plan and performance against targets, as it applies to the sphere of responsibility.
- Identifying areas for continuous improvement and their implementation.
- Be responsible for all aspects of the fundamentals of care, identifying risks,
- developing proposals for corrective action and improvement, monitoring, and evaluating implementation.
- Be responsible for undertaking complex investigations of clinical incidents, complaints and professional issues following Health Board Policy and acting upon findings/recommendations.
