Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacist with experience in surgery and anaesthetics to become our Advanced Specialist Pharmacist for Surgery based here at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
If you thrive on a fresh challenge, benefit from collaborative working with other healthcare professionals and the wider Pharmacy team then this is the role for you.
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
Main duties of the job
As a member of the MDT, this role will provide specialist clinical pharmacy services to surgical patients, including those in high-care and critical care step-down settings. You will attend ward rounds and MDT meetings to ensure holistic patient care and lead a surgical pharmacy team. Your expertise will ensure a safe and effective medicines service across multispecialty surgical wards, Critical Care, and PACU.
This position involves championing new ways of working, particularly the ongoing digitisation of prescribing and medicine administration through EPMA. Future plans for digitising surgical wards and theatres will be a major part of your responsibilities.
You will play a vital role in the newly formed Health Board-wide Clinical Service Groups, specifically supporting the Planned Care Clinical Service Group. The organisation advocates for an integrated approach to managing medicines across both Primary and Secondary Care.
Surgical services are currently undergoing significant evolution, with the development of the Llantrisant Health Park at the RGH site. This will become an elective super-site for patients across South East Wales. You will be actively involved in scoping, planning, and delivering pharmacy services for this major project.
