Job overview

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed, hard working individual with a flexible approach to work ,to join the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board's Central Sterile Services team, based at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant.

The HSDU team is responsible for providing vital equipment decontamination service to the Operating Theatres and Hospital departments.

Since this post involves occasional Weekend/Bank Holiday/On-call working, all applicants must be time flexible.

As the department is certified to ISO13485 - 2016 and the Medical Devices Directives, a keen eye for detail is a must.

Main duties of the job

Duties of this post include working in a physically demanding production environment. You will be expected to handle moderately heavy instrument sets and spend extended periods standing/walking.

Due to the vital nature of the service provided you will be required to achieve, and consistently maintain, our high production and quality standards.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc) Technical Certificate OR Vocational Level 3 Decontamination OR Equivalent level of knowledge, work experience and skills within a decontamination role

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in Sterile Services
Desirable criteria
  • Working in a healthcare environment

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Attention to detail required to carry out collection, decontamination, packing and sterilizing processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Some knowledge of surgical Instrumentation.
Desirable criteria
  • Familiar with ISO13485:2016 and UKMDR 2002 (as amended).
