Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board are looking for a Dynamic and Compassionate Senior Nurse Band 8a to lead our Community Children’s Nursing Team who deliver care to children, young people and their families across 3 localities and span Children's Continuing care, Special Schools and Care Closer to Home.
The post holder will work within the Children & Families Care Group and is expected to work with autonomy to provide highly specialised professional advice to staff and colleagues in both the Health Board and Local Authority to ensure high standards of direct care delivery. The role also involves interpreting and implementing national policy and supporting systems for professional revalidation and performance management of the Team Leaders and Practice Development Lead who are accountable for the provision of quality and safe care across the Community Children's Nursing Service.
The post holder will work collaboratively with other Senior Nurses within the Care Group and adopt a visible and accessible approach for the children, young people, their families/carers and staff. They will be expected to lead by example, empower staff in their personal and professional development, modernize care delivery whilst upholding Cwm Taf Morgannwg’s values and behaviours.
Main duties of the job
Be responsible for the professional leadership, management, and governance of Community Children’s Nursing Services across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
Provide leadership, direction and development of registered Nurses and allied healthcare professional staff.
Support the Senior Nursing Team and Service Manager to ensure the highest standard of nursing care is provided, monitored, and evaluated.
Be guided by professional, organisational policies and codes of conduct and is responsible for their implantation for their area.
Support processes and audits to monitor the quality of care, clinical practices, incidents/claims, and professional registration.
Be responsible for undertaking investigations of clinical incidents, complaints and professional issues and acting upon findings/recommendations.
Be part of a Senior Manager on-call rota, and will be expected to be part of an on-call roster, covering an identified shift in line with the current agreed on-call process.

Have overall responsibility and accountability for the operational management and governance of their area of responsibility within Community Childrens Nursing Services.
Have delegated budgetary responsibility for Community Childrens Nursing Services and allied healthcare professional services within the sphere of responsibility, and be an authorised signatory in line with the financial control procedures/scheme of delegation.
To undertake financial assessments of new developments or changes in service provision and monitoring of benefits within the sphere of responsibility.
Implement and evaluate the Resource and Operational Plan and performance against targets. Identifying areas for continuous improvement and their implementation.
Be required to support complex sickness and absence issues and provide formal counselling to individual staff members.
Support the Head of Nursing in the investigation of clinical incidents, critical incidents, complaints and claims.
Develop systems, processes and audits to monitor the quality of care, adherence to policies and procedures, clinical practice, and corrective action plans from clinical incidents, claims, complaints and professional registration.
Work in collaboration with the Lead Nurse, Head of Nursing, Directorate Manager and Senior Nurses to provide cover for annual leave.
Participate in and chair key meetings within the Acute Services and develop a communication framework to cascade information to all areas within the specialty.
Conduct regular staff appraisals identifying training needs and personal development plans, setting objectives and monitoring performance in accordance with organisational objectives, professional standards and Knowledge Skills Framework competencies.
Maximise the performance of all staff within delegated areas.
Develop policies and service development practices across the specialty in support of the Clinical and Risk Governance Agenda.
To support the Head of Nursing to comply with and provide evidence to demonstrate adherence to the Health Care Standards.
Be responsible for all aspects of the environment of care, ensuring early identification of risks, developing proposals for corrective action and improvement, and monitoring and evaluating implementation.
Be responsible for undertaking complex investigations of clinical incidents, complaints and professional issues and acting upon findings/recommendations.
Be responsible for Child Protection at Risk Protection the service.
Provide clinical expertise to the multi-disciplinary team, particularly with regard to complex case management and Continuing Healthcare cases.
Provide specialist Specialty specific information to the Head of Nursing and to other colleagues across the organisation and partner agencies.
Provide clinical expertise to support public health initiatives.
To monitor and evaluate the implementation of infection control policies, procedures, and best practices.

- Registered professional with current NMC registration.
- Degree or equivalent skills, knowledge and/or training and experience.
- Master’s Level or possess skills, knowledge and/or training and experience to its equivalency.
