Job overview
This is a fixed term, 1 year, consultant paediatrician post, covering maternity leave. This is a traditional consultant post with no contribution to Tier 2 rota. The post-holder would be part of a team of 9 consultants providing paediatric and neonatal care in PCH and 2 community paediatricians. Neonatal experience required to support on-site neonatal services.
This post is fixed term for up to 12 months to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job
Contribution to the non-resident Consultant on-call rota and In-patient service week for paediatrics (consultant of the week) for Paediatric ward and Neonatal Unit. During the non-resident out of hours, consultants are responsible to provide cover for the General Paediatric ward and Neonatal unit (32 weeks and above model). Babies requiring continued intensive care / ventilation are retrieved by the Regional Neonatal Transport Team and taken to one of the Tertiary Units in South Wales. There is a dedicated CTM safeguarding rota in place Monday - Friday during normal hours. The post holder will be expected to contribute to this rota once a months.
The post holder will be allocated sessions in the outpatient clinics for managing children with general acute and chronic paediatric disorders.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration
- MB, BS or equivalent & MRCPCH or equivalent
- NLS and APLS/EPLS certified and in date
- Level 3 safeguarding training certified and in date
Abilities
Essential criteria
- Able to keep good medical notes.
- Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in issues relating to immunizations
