Job overview
The Primary Care Team within General Medical Services (GMS) at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to lead the planning, delivery, and management of high-quality, patient-centred primary care services across Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, and Rhondda Cynon Taf. This pivotal role involves overseeing GMS contract management, driving service improvements, and contributing to the strategic development of primary care initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of healthcare regulations, and a commitment to enhancing access and outcomes for the local population.

This is a key management role with responsibility for supporting a wide-ranging agenda through the delivery of patient-centred, safe, effective primary healthcare services across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
The post holder will support the Head of Primary Care and Primary Care Development Managers with the delivery, contract management, review and long term strategic planning of General Medical Services across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. They will also support the Head of Primary Care and Primary Care Development Managers in taking forward the strategic agenda for the Health Board.
The post holder will be the lead specialist in own area, responsible for collaborating and negotiating with contractors and service providers to identify and achieve service development and improvement, evaluating through performance management and manage the delivery of specific plans and projects to meet the healthcare needs of the local population.

Essential criteria
- Knowledge of specific area, acquired through Degree or equivalent experience or training, plus further staff and project management knowledge to Postgraduate Diploma level equivalent.
- Must demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning and continuous development.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current issues facing Primary Care.
- Strong understanding of government policy in relation to health and social care.
