Job overview
Working as a HCSW on the endocrine ward you will be assisting patients with all activities of daily living including washing, dressing, feeding, toileting and pressure area care. You will be working under the direction of a registered nurse and the wider Multi Disciplinary Team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to implement packages of care devised by registered Nurses/Therapists involving direct and non-direct care for the benefit of the patient on an individual or group setting. Duties include:
- Provide basic nursing care to patients
- Undertake routine clinical tasks, for example - dressings, catheter care, removal of cannula's
- Take, record and report basic physiological investigations
- Support patients and relatives through stressful situations including
care of the terminally ill patient, emergency, resuscitation, dealing with consequences of illness. - Be familiar with the online Welsh Clinical nursing documentation, including repositioning records
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
