An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to undertake the role of a Band 7 nurse
assessor who will have a range of responsibilities within the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Commissioning Team.
The suitable individual must have sufficient post registration experience at Band 6.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills required, as well as leadership and organisational skills. Negotiation and mediation skills are also
necessary along with the ability to multi-task.

Main duties of the job
The main focus of the role will be to deal with commissioning and procurement issues, administration and sourcing of appropriate placements for patients, to maintain accurate records and support all aspects of work within the MH/LD Commissioning team.
The post holder will support the Commissioning Senior Nurse, and Head of Service to ensure that there is sufficient, good quality placments to meet the needs of people elligable.
The post holder will be responsible for the case management of a cohort of patients requiring both independent hospital and community based mental health or learning disabilities services.
The post holder will exercise a high level of judgment in monitoring this group of patients with complex needs.
They will be required to manage their workloads, priorities, milestones and deadlines.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse.
- Evidence of post- registration continuing professional development activity
- Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and awareness of current evidence base relevant to the area of practice
- Sound working knowledge of the legal and policy framework underpinning mental health service provision e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, National Service Frameworks, CTP
- Knowledge of NHS Funded Nursing Care arrangements and NHS Continuing Health Care including MHA Section 117 Aftercare
Desirable criteria
- Education to MSC level or equivalent education gained through professional development and short courses in specialised field.
- Evidence of Partnership working with multiple agencies
- Substanial experience working at Band 6 or equivalent.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of achievement in clinical practice within the area of speciality e.g. adult mental health, forensic services
- Evidence of understanding of current political reforms and the impact on aspects of care provision.
- Implementing innovation and change in clinical practice.
- Evidence of working within highly complex organizations/environments.
- MH or LD Clinical background.

- Evidence of involvement in audit and service development.
