Job overview

Do you want to gain experience as a Band 4 Assistant practitioner and be involved in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of Trauma and Orthopaedic patients? 

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen to work alongside experienced physiotherapy clinicians in the area of Trauma and Orthopaedics in Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Pontyclun. 

You will carry out treatment programs under the guidance of a registered therapist in order to provide rehabilitation and other interventions to facilitate safe discharge. Some clerical and administration tasks will also be undertaken (e.g. keeping records, filing, photocopying). You will be expected to work independently.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a rehabilitation trial, providing additional treatment session to hip fracture patients. There will also be the opportunity to work with the research and development team to input the research data.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody who has previous experience as a therapy or rehabilitation assistant in an NHS or care setting.

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 3 level or equivalent knowledge of specific patient conditions or level 3 certificate in personal training/fitness instruction
Desirable criteria
  • Basic understanding of proper and safe use of therapy equipment

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as Band 3 in healthcare or equivalent experience from the leisure or social care sector
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of delivering rehabilitation with patient/service users that require high levels of supervision and advanced communication techniques.

IT & Quality Improvement

Essential criteria
  • Standard keyboard skills and familiarity of computer software i.e. word processing, email, excel
Desirable criteria
  • Involvement in service development and experience of data collection and analysis.
