This post is offered as a secondment for up to 12 months to cover service needs, please ensure you obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post. . 

·         Act as an expert resource within the National Frameworks Team within the Mental Health, Learning Disability & Vulnerable Groups Directorate of the NWJCC.

·         Responsible for the quality assurance of provider services collaboratively commissioned via the National Framework Agreements.

·         Provide specialist advice for other agencies and professionals regarding the clinical management of individuals presenting with mental health conditions.

Main duties of the job

The post holder  will:

 ·        Clinically audit providers of collaboratively commissioned MHLDVG services under the National Framework Agreements.

·        Ensure providers reduce risk and promote hope, recovery and rehabilitation.

·        Ensure quality and safety concerns about providers are raised, discussed, collated and disseminated by statutory agencies, Local authorities and UHBs.

·        Facilitate collaborative working between providers and commissioners to ensure safe and effective care.

·        The majority of functions undertaken are proactive performance management or reactive to situations that have arisen.  Formal reviews are undertaken with providers, and UHB’s which examine use of collaboratively commissioned services compared to plans and progress towards achieving service quality as set out in the service specification.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • A Registered Nurse (Mental Health or Learning Disabilities); Clinical/Counselling Psychologist; Social Worker; Occupational Therapist, educated to Master’s degree or equivalent level of experience/knowledge, with evidence of developed knowledge in mental health, learning disability, CAMHS & eating disorder management within the secondary care setting.
  • Understanding of the commissioning and provision of health services.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • Knowledge about relevant Mental Health legislation, regulation, quality monitoring of services and patient safety initiatives across the UK.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a leadership role.

  • Relevant experience in inpatient services.
  • Relevant experience of healthcare quality improvement.
  • Working in a challenging and busy environment.
